Bakas

Bakas in the Filipino language means print, mark, trace, trail or vestige. This blog, then, records all those that left their marks or my impressions on anything under the sun :)

Sabbath

Among the daily Bible reflection guides I've read, I like Sabbath best. Like most Bible reflection guides, it's published every quarter. But don't expect to find a copy when the quarter already started or even a week before the quarter. Despite being quite costly, it's easily sold out. I was lucky to find a copy tonight, the last one in St. Pauls in SM City Manila.

Unlike most guides that are personal stories and reflections of the author, Sabbath is more philosophical and meant as study guide for reading the Bible. Unlike other guides, Sabbath articles are all authored by priests who explain passages in the Bible, Church practices, introduce the saints and how the Gospel apply to our lives. To quote from it, “its purpose is to encourage Catholics to understand with greater depth the Word of God and thereby apply it in their personal lives.”

I'm happy to have a Sabbath as guide for this coming quarter.
