Bakas

Bakas in the Filipino language means print, mark, trace, trail or vestige. This blog, then, records all those that left their marks or my impressions on anything under the sun :)

romantic language

Upon the invitation of my French teacher, I attended the
cocktail reception at the residence of the Belgian Ambassador to the
Philippines in Forbes Park, Makati tonight with some classmates. It's
in celebration of the International Week of Francophonie
(areas/countries that speak French).

A discussion with a professor from the University of Sto.
Tomas lead to one of the most popular reasons given by students who
study French – that is, it's the most romantic language or the
language of love. I honestly don't understand this.

I believe that love or its expression doesn't favor any
language. It's the sincerity of someone expressing love that makes it
romantic.

DVD

I bought a new DVD player today. And all because my DVD
player couldn't display the subtitles in my new DVD. It's a Korean TV
series that is currently being aired in ABS-CBN and entitled "Marrying
a Millionaire".

It's aired very late at night but I like it so much that I
wait up for it. Last Monday night, even chatting with my friend Hazel
in the U.S. couldn't distract me from it :)

But I thought that I was better off buying the DVD than
waiting for the show every night. I finally bought one last Tuesday.
I was so disappointed when there was no subtitle. I exchanged it last
Friday but I still couldn't see any subtitle. I tested it on my
cousin's DVD player and it was okay. I figured that the only way that
I could watch the show was to get another DVD player. And so, voila.
